 01 October 2007 ASM sign a ‘unified’ support agreement with PFIKS ASM International benefits the materials community by providing scientific, engineering and technical knowledge, education, networking and professional development. Their vision is to be the leading resource for the advancement of materials knowledge in education, industry and society. In 2004, ASM set in motion a new strategic plan which called for investment in an information technology infrastructure that would allow for the creation of ASM's Global Community Information Network. By 2006, the first online services based on the ASM Integrated Enterprise were launched, including databases for Materials for Medical Devices and Alloy Phase Diagrams Online. PFIKS were been engaged to provide consultancy and support for this implementation and this work has involved providing technical resource around content modeling, product extension, customisation of Autonomy portlets, configuration of back-end search technology, migration of content into Vignette Content (using Vignette's Business Integration Studio technology) as well as providing ongoing consultancy around leveraging Vignette and Autonomy products to deliver specific requirements. Now ASM have contracted PFIKS to provide a unified application infrastructure support service.
